Image of Selling
Mention of the word selling will prompt a variety of responses. It will
evoke a high proportion of negative, even hostile responses. In fact the
underlying attitudes to selling derive from widely held misconceptions about
selling, some of which are outlined below.
Selling is not a worthwhile career:
There is a misconception and image of selling something not positive.
Person who want to make his career in selling is believed he would waste his
time. People still think, this selling job is for people who are not well in
academic or did not find good job.
Good products will sell themselves and thus the selling process adds
unnecessarily to costs:
Majority of people believe good product fetch its sell itself. People
think business firm operate selling functions just to make a sale of dumped
product. Many firms do this practice this even. They focus on sale of those
goods who could not take good market. This notion actually is not real.
There is something immoral about selling, and one should be suspicious
about those who earn their living from this activity.
There might be suspicion that selling is not
good job enough, which people might perceive sales people are enjoying good
life because of immoral practice in selling. Illiteracy and rigid thought is
the main cause of this.
Selling Needs to sell itself and the following facts about selling should
